Jake is a seasoned Estimator who also has experience in Project Management, Emergency HazMat Response, and Environmental Consulting. He has more than 17 years of estimating and project management experience in the environmental, heavy civil, and utility construction fields.
Jake began in the environmental remediation field in 2005 and worked as an Estimator, Scientist, Project Manager, and Regional Manager before moving into heavy civil and utility construction. His experience includes estimating projects up to $60 million for clients such as the U.S. Air Force, Georgia DOT, Tennessee DOT, Department of Energy, US Environmental Protection Agency, and numerous private corporations. He has experience with large scale earthmoving projects, blasting, demolition, landfill expansions, sanitary sewer pump stations, and underground utility piping. He also served as a project manager for hundreds of environmental emergency responses, remedial sites exceeding $1million, and civil or utility projects ranging from $150K - $3million. He most recently oversaw the Estimating department at SCE Environmental Group.
This unique experience allows him to provide precise, detailed estimates. Methods he has used for estimates over the years include estimating by hand, using spreadsheets (often creating his own), and using numerous estimating softwares. His wide-ranging experience has also given him the opportunity to hone his ability to identify and solve efficiency problems in the estimating pipeline, saving the companies for whom he’s worked time, and therefore money, by trimming the time it takes to complete estimates. He has done this through solutions ranging from creating formulas to handle the math all the way to choosing the best estimating software for the company’s workflow and then customizing it to work as efficiently for that company’s process as possible.
